Phoenix Theatres Kennedy Mall announces Grand Opening
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PHOENIX THEATRES KENNEDY MALL
ANNOUNCES GRAND OPENING APRIL 6th
DUBUQUE, Iowa (March 12, 2018) – Phoenix Theatres, an independently-owned movie theatre chain, announced this past week that months of renovations are nearing completion. The Grand Opening of Phoenix Theatres Kennedy Mall is slated for April 6 and when area residents return, they will experience significant upgrades in all areas of the theatre including new Christie Digital Projectors, Trinnov Sound Systems and 100% reclining heated seats from VIP Cinema Seating.
Phoenix Theatres Kennedy Mall will hold a Ribbon Cutting with the Dubuque Chamber of Commerce on April 5th at 5:00pm.
“100 percent reclining seating has become a customer favorite and a signature amenity in all Phoenix Theatres – and at no extra increase in ticket prices,” said Cory Jacobson, owner of Phoenix Theatres. “When we discovered the newest feature available was heated seats, we thought this would make the experience even more comfortable and perfect to warm everyone up on a chilly day or even in the middle of summer.”
“We wanted to do something special in Dubuque and added the concept of an ‘Ovation Experience’ to the two largest auditoriums at Kennedy Mall. This concept includes a 28,000-watt sound system powered by a 13 channel Trinnov audio processor, pumped through Klipsch’s spectacular Grandeur Cinema Speakers. Combined, this creates one of the most immersive cinema audio experiences possible. The latest in new series 3 - Christie Digital Cinema projectors and state-of-the-art micro-perforated screens will enhance brightness and clarity and provide the sharpest possible picture,” said Brad Steckroth, Progressive Cinema Solutions Digital Systems Engineer and designer of the projection and sound systems at Phoenix Theatres Kennedy Mall.
“We also went back to the theatre’s original 1987 blueprints, developed by Boston based General Cinema Corporation (the theatre’s original operator) and found that the picture formats were perfectly designed to maximize the image size, so we decided to restore the screens to their original, larger dimensions. Our goal is to outfit the theatre with the best cinema equipment to offer a truly premium movie-going experience. We hope our guests will find their experience uniquely immersive and truly exciting.”
Jacobson, who has worked in the movie theatre business his entire life, since popping popcorn as a teenager in Wisconsin, said: “We have restored the theatre, keeping the better elements of the original General Cinema designs, combining the newest cinema amenities to make this an outstanding theatre we hope the community will enjoy for years to come. Restoring this theatre has been the largest project we have tackled in our 17-year history and certainly the most rewarding. It simply is the biggest version of the television show ‘This Old House’ you can imagine, and every day has brought with it new challenges and new opportunities.
Phoenix Theatres’ mission is to focus their attentions on making the customer experience best-in-class, where every seat in the house is first-class.
